New releases contain the most up-to-date features, enhancements, and bug fixes. Using an earlier release could limit your use of features and enhancements, and could affect your systems with known issues.

1. From the Base Fabric console, download and upgrade the Netra CP3240 switch firmware and software before upgrading any AMC products.
For detailed instructions, refer to the Sun Netra CP3x40 Switch Product Notes and to the README files.

2. Download the AMC upgrades, and place the images on a TFTP server.
3. Connect to the serial management port of the Netra CP3240 switch to be updated.
4. Connect the Netra CP3240 switch to the network via the front panel management port.
5. Make sure the AMC products to be upgraded are installed in a Netra CP3240 switch.
The AMC slot in the CP3240 does not matter; you can upgrade three sites at a time. AMCs must be in the Netra CP3240 switch to which serial and ethernet management ports are cabled.
6. Log in to the Netra CP3240 switch.
The factory set default for admin and enable is no password.
7. Determine the action required:
a. If you have DHCP on your network, skip to Step 8.
b. If you are not using DHCP, set up your service port as follows:
8. Copy the Netra CP3240 switch image:
copy tftp://<tftp ip>/cp3240h-bex-z.1.3.2.0.stk system:image1
9. Reset with the reload command.
10. Install the AMC update, as in the following example:
copy tftp://<tftp ip>/switch.amc_mmc.1.0.2.stk system:image1
Note that the version number varies according to the newest update.
One firmware image supports all three AMC products. Unless otherwise noted in a README file, changes apply to all three AMC products.
The firmware is released as a Netra CP3240 switch update image. This image can be installed like any Netra CP3240 switch update image; however, this image will update the AMC’s IPMI code rather than the Netra CP3240 switch’s.
The most common way to install the update is using the copy command as shown in the previous step. The update process will auto-detect if any Sun Netra CP3240 AMC products are installed, and install the proper firmware for the AMC product.
