The BMR-H8S-ATCA provides a dual IPMB interface using the I2C-2 and I2C-3 ports of the built-in I2C controller of the H8S.
Each IPMB interface is buffered using a Linear Technology device, allowing insertion and removal of the respective IPMB interface onto a live backplane. When the connection to the backplane is made, the device provides bidirectional buffering, keeping the backplane and the blade server capacities isolated.
Based on current design and implementation, the firmware uses the I2C-4 port in master-only mode. The BMR-H8S-AT CA provides:
Pull-up resistors on the clock and data lines of the master-only I2C (SCL and SDA pins)
Other I2C buses using the I2C-5 port connection to ADM1026 (PC5 pin)
I2C-4 port connection to dual Gigabit LAN and I2C-1 connection to AMC and ARTM (PC4 pin)
