1.1 SPARCstation 10 Service Codes

There are two major classifications of the SPARCstation 10 family based upon different fabrications of the system board. Each major class is noted by a service code located on a rear panel label or the underside of the system:

This system has ISDN ports on the back panel. It uses a speaker box.

It accommodates up to 512 Mbytes of memory (Dynamic Single Inline Memory Modules). You can install Nonvolatile Single Inline Memory Modules (NVSIMMs) with a battery backup.

This SPARCstation 10 system has four audio ports on the back panel. There are no ISDN ports. This system also comes with an audio module and an internal speaker installed on the system board. It does not use a speaker box. A variety of disk drive capacities are available.

It accommodates up to 448 Mbytes of memory (Dynamic Single Inline Memory Modules) and one Video Single Inline Memory Module (VSIMM). A second VSIMM can also be installed in this system. To install a second VSIMM in the system, you must install an auxiliary video board into the auxiliary video board connector on the system board, used for video output from the VSIMM.
