The BIOS boot code is the most basic diagnostic tool. It begins executing when the server enters full-power mode. The execution of code follows a sequence of hardware checks and tests called POST (power-on self-test). POST focuses on thoroughly testing devices as well as providing meaningful information to users when errors occur. POST works in conjunction with other processes to complete initialization and booting. The POST sequence ends when the operating system boots.
