2.2. Importing and Deploying the Plug-in

The Enterprise Manager Plug-in for Oracle VDI is distributed through the Oracle Enterprise Manager Store. For detailed steps on how to import and deploy the plug-in, see the "Plug-in Manager" chapter in the Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Administrator's Guide: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e24473/plugin_mngr.htm.

The following is a summary of the process to follow:

  1. Download the plug-in to the Oracle Enterprise Manager repository.

When this step is complete, you can see in the Plug-in Manager in the Oracle Enterprise Manager Console, that Oracle VDI is now listed among the plug-ins available in your environment.

  2. Deploy the plug-in to a Management Server.

This extends the capabilities of the Management Server (OMS) to manage a new category of targets; in this case an Oracle VDI Center with its associated Oracle VDI targets. The OMS receives three components for each plug-in: management components, discovery components and monitoring components.

  3. Deploy the plug-in to a Management Agent.

This transfers the discovery and monitoring components to the Management Agent, enabling it to discover Oracle VDI targets, and collect monitoring information from the discovered targets.

When these steps have been completed successfully, the Oracle VDI plug-in has been deployed and is ready to accept monitoring targets.
