public class MacroTextField
extends CompletionTextField

A text field that will display a completion insight popup when the user starts typing a macro.

You can retrieve an instance from the MacroRegistry using MacroRegistry.getTextField( ExternalToolType, boolean).

MacroTextField

public MacroTextField(boolean validateDirectory,
                      boolean validateFile)
Constructs a MacroTextField that can validate whether the text content of the field is a file or directory. It will only do this if no macros are present in the field (since they can't be expanded as part of the validation).
Parameters:
validateDirectory - if true, the field content will be red underlined if the text does not represent a directory.
validateFile - if true the field content will be red underlined if the text does not represent a regular file.

Configure this macro text field to use the specified registry, external tool type, and whether to only show directories.
Parameters:
registry - the macro registry
type - the external tool type
onlyDirectories - whether to only show directories

isTextValid

protected boolean isTextValid()
Description copied from class: CompletionTextField
Returns true if the current text in this field is valid. If the text is not valid, then the text in the field will be highlighted with a wavy red underline.

This method will be called periodically to determine whether the current contens are invalid.

You can further customize the red underlining by specifying specific character ranges to underline by overriding the CompletionTextField.getInvalidCharacterRanges() method. The default implementation underlines the whole string.

This implementation always returns true.

Returns:
true if the text is valid.

getInvalidCharacterRanges

Description copied from class: CompletionTextField
Returns the character ranges which are invalid. The return value is a two dimensional array indicating the start and end index of invalid substrings in the field.

For example, in the string "This is a test", where the words "is" and "test" are invalid, this method might return the following array:

   { { 5, 6 }, { 10, 13 } }
 

The default implementation returns a single range that represents the whole string, i.e. for the example above:

   { { 0, 13 } }
 
Overrides:
getInvalidCharacterRanges in class CompletionTextField
Returns:
an array of character ranges that are invalid.
