What's New in Oracle Solaris 11.2

This section highlights information for existing customers about important new security features in this release.

  • Deadman Feature – The deadman feature in Solaris is implemented for penetrating system hard hangs. When enabled, this feature checks the deadman timer status every second on each CPU. It does this by firing a level 14 interrupt on the CPU. For more information, see Using the Deadman Feature.

  • Fibre Channel SR-IOV Devices – A new interface for configuring the attributes of a Fibre Channel SR-IOV virtual function (VF) using the physical function (PF) is available. This section describes the steps required to:

    • Configure a Fibre Channel Virtual Function

    • Update a Fibre Channel Virtual Function

    • Unconfigure a Fibre Channel Virtual Function

    • Configure Bandwidth on a Fibre Channel Virtual Function

    • Configure SR-IOV Fibre Channel Devices on SPARC Platforms
