In the Sun Fire X4600 and Sun Fire X4600 M2 Servers Service Manual, PN 819-4342-18, the "Replacing a Hard Disk Drive Backplane" procedure is incomplete. On page 3-30, there should be additional steps to reinstall components in the system after installing the hard disk drive back plane.
The following steps should be added after Step 10:
Replace the fan tray carriage to the chassis.
Replace all CPU modules and CPU filler boards.
Replace all fan trays.
After performing these steps, the server cover can be replaced.
