Restricted XVLAN

Restricted XVLANs are the host-facing VLANs that carry XVLAN traffic downstream to the hosts.

There are two types of restricted XVLAN, solitary-restricted and group-restricted. The main difference between the two types is whether or not the ports within the restricted XVLAN can communicate with each other.

• Solitary-restricted XVLAN. This type of XVLAN isolates the ports within a restricted XVLAN, preventing them from communicating with each other. Because this type of XVLAN isolates its member ports, a single solitary-restricted XVLAN is sufficient for a given XVLAN domain.

• Group-restricted XVLAN. This type of XVLAN allows communication between its ports. Isolation between multiple group- or solitary-restricted XVLANs is maintained. There can be multiple group-restricted XVLANs in a given XVLAN.
