5.1 Backing up and Restoring Oracle VM Manager

This section contains information about how to back up and restore Oracle VM Manager, including the database repository. Note that the MySQL database repository is automatically backed up every day. It is possible to manually backup the database and these steps are discussed in Section 5.1.2, “Backing up the MySQL Database Repository”. The following outline describes the steps required to perform a manual backup of Oracle VM Manager.

To back up Oracle VM Manager:

  1. Back up/copy the Oracle VM Manager configuration file located at:

    /u01/app/oracle/ovm-manager-3/.config

  2. Back up the Oracle VM Manager database. The Oracle VM Manager database is backed up automatically every 24 hours using the MySQL Enterprise Backup utility, but it is also possible to perform a manual backup. See Section 5.1.2, “Backing up the MySQL Database Repository” for more information on Oracle VM Manager MySQL database backup and restore facilities.
