Although the Oracle UEK3 kernel supports huge pages over 1 GB in size, a hardware virtualized guest running Oracle Linux with UEK3 installed may not recognize that 1 GB huge pages are supported, and the following error is displayed in the dmesg log:

hugepagesz: Unsupported page size 1024 M
Initializing cgroup subsys hugetlb
HugeTLB registered 2 MB page size, pre-allocated 2 pages
