16 Item Alignment

When your organization does not use an enterprise management module to control data entry, different locations can enter the same item with slight variances. Item alignment allows you to define the master entry under which all of the same item posts and calculates.

Item Alignment consists of the following components:
  • Master Groups: Store groupings for which you can specify master items and assign locations. Each Master Group must have one Master Store.

  • Master Stores: Assigned locations that define the default master items to which other locations in the same Master Group align.

  • Master Items: The parent item instance under which items post.

  • Alias Items: The alias name for aligned items to consolidate under in reports.
