A fast transaction does not require a workstation operator to use a Begin Check key to start a new transaction. Workstation operators can quickly start transactions be pressing a menu item key or scanning an item. This functionality is often used in a retail or concession environment where a workstation operator stands in one place and quickly begins transactions repeatedly. It is also often used by bartenders who start more transactions than a typical food server, and rarely assign customers to a specific table or check number.
