43 Importing and Exporting Data

If you are using Simphony version 2.8 or later, the Simphony Import/Export Service allows you to:
  • Import and export Simphony application data in a comma-separated values (CSV) format, to or from spreadsheet applications

  • Import configuration data into the Simphony application database that can be called by external systems, such as a web service application programming interface (API)

  • Export configuration data from Simphony that can be called by external systems, such as an on premise inventory management application

The main benefits of this service are:
  • Allows you to load configuration data in bulk (for example, making a large number of price changes for menu items, which reduces the amount of time it takes to configure systems)

  • Allows third parties to integrate with customer databases (either self-hosted or hosted within an Oracle facility), without providing direct access to the application file server or database

  • Allows third parties to build custom interfaces
