Selecting the Set of Books

A set of books identifies a company or fund within Oracle Applications that shares a common chart of accounts structure, calendar, and functional currency. Oracle Sales Compensation processes sales compensation payments according to periods defined in a calendar associated with a set of books you define in Oracle General Ledger. You reference this set of books using a system parameter in Oracle Sales Compensation. For example, if the periods in the set of books you identify are biweekly, your compensation periods will also be biweekly.

Note: Defining a set of books is explained in Oracle General Ledger Reference. After you define your set of books, you're ready to specify this information to Oracle Sales Compensation.

To specify the set of books on which you want to base your compensation periods:

When you enter a set of books, Oracle Sales Compensation displays the following information associated with that set of books:

Calendar: The name of the calendar associated with this set of GL books. This information can only be viewed.

Period Type: The period type associated with this set of GL books. This information can only be viewed.

Currency: The functional currency associated with this set of GL books. Oracle Sales Compensation allows you to pay salespeople in the currency of their choice, known as the salesrep currency; it makes calculations in the selected functional currency, and then displays the amounts in the salesperson's subledger in the salesrep currency.

The currency in which transactions are done is called the transaction currency; Oracle Sales Compensation converts the transaction or source currency to the functional currency after it collects the transaction from Oracle Receivables or another source. For more information on multicurrency rules, see the Oracle General Ledger Reference Manual.
