Defining a Hierarchy
You define all types of hierarchies (such as revenue class and salespeople) in the same way in Oracle Sales Compensation.
You can create as many hierarchies for a dimension as you need. However, only one hierarchy per dimension can be effective at any given time.
When you define your revenue class hierarchy, enter the broadest revenue class as the root. With the revenue class All in the hierarchy, Global has the flexibility to assign this class to the compensation plans that compensate for any type of revenue.
To define a hierarchy:
1. Open the Dimensions window.
By default, choose Dimensions from the Setup menu.
2. In the Name field, select the dimension for which you are defining a hierarchy.
The Hierarchies window opens.
You use this window to add and view hierarchies.
4. In the first blank row in the Hierarchy Name region, enter the name of the new hierarchy.
5. In the Intervals region, enter the period you want the hierarchy to be effective.
From: The hierarchy becomes effective on the first date of this period.
To: The hierarchy becomes ineffective the day after the last date in the period.
You can choose your From and To periods from a list of values. Two hierarchies in the same dimension cannot have overlapping periods.
