What is a Classification Rules Hierarchy?
As you define rules, you will notice common conditions among them. For economy of expression and ease of maintenance, you can assign the common conditions once to the parent of rules that share the same conditions. For example, the Standard Multimedia PC and the ATO Multimedia PC are in the same hierarchy and share the condition Product_Code=MM (Figure 3 -11). This condition is specified once in Oracle Sales Compensation for the parent rule of the two rules that differentiate Standard Multimedia PC and the ATO Multimedia PC.
