Defining a Compensation Rate Table
When you define a compensation rate table, you specify the amount of compensation that will be given for a transaction based on the current level of quota or revenue achievement.
Each rate table you define is stored by name as an object in the database. You can assign the same rate table to more than one plan element.
To define a compensation rate table:
1. Navigate to the Rate Table window.
You can choose Rate Tables directly from the Compensation Plans menu, or choose Rate Table from the Plan Elements window.
2. Specify the name of a new rate table.
Suggestion: Choose a name for your rate table that you can easily associate with the plan element the table is assigned to and also with the plan to which it is assigned. For example, Global Computers' field software salespeople are on the DIRECT plan, which has a plan element named DIRECT PRO PC. The rate table assigned to this plan element is also called DIRECT PRO PC.
3. In the Tier region, select Percent or Amount, depending on how you want to define the range for the tier.
Select percent for Revenue quota, Unit Quota, Discount, and Margin.
Select amount for Revenue Non Quota and Unit Non Quota.
4. In the From field, enter the lower boundary of quota or revenue achievement for that bracket.
For the second bracket on, Oracle Sales Compensation automatically enters the previous To value.
For example, to enter the first rate bracket shown in Figure 7 - 5, enter 0 in this field. The From value must be greater than or equal to 0.
5. In the To field, enter the upper boundary of quota achievement for that bracket.
For example, to enter the first rate bracket shown in Figure 7 - 5, enter 25 in this field. The To value must be greater than 0.
6. In the Commission region, select Percent or Amount, depending on how you want to define the commission rate.
7. In the Commission region, enter a compensation rate as a % or $ value for the range of quota or revenue achievement you defined in Steps 3 and 4.
Your rate can be a decimal value or a whole number, but must be greater than or equal to zero.
8. Continue to enter From, To, and Commission values for each bracket in the rate table.
You can define as many brackets as you need. Ensure all brackets in the rate table are contiguous--ensure each From value is equal to the To value of the next higher bracket.
If you started this procedure from the Plan Elements window, the table name appears in the Rate Table field of the Plan Elements window.
