Internet application developers experience dramatic productivity
increases using the modeling and design capture capabilities of
Oracle9iDS. Java developers benefit from UML modeling,
which is described on page 4 in this section of the quick tour.
For server design, generation, and capture, Oracle9iDS
offers Oracle9i Designer.
Oracle9i Designer is a toolset for analyzing business
requirements and for designing and generating systems that meet
those requirements. It incorporates support for process modeling,
system analysis, database and program (module) design, and full
database and program generation.
Designer offers visual modeling tools that provides an intuitive
and task-oriented environment for accurately and quickly capturing
and modeling the business processes, flows, hierarchies, and data
requirements of both new and legacy applications.
From these models created, powerful labor-saving transformers
then automatically build the database schema and complete module
definitions of screens, reports, and menus for your default database
and application designs.
An integrated multi-user repository is used to store and manage
the application metadata. Generators automatically construct high-quality,
usable applications and physical databases from the repository-based
metadata.
Designer's cooperative, multi-user, repository-based architecture
delivers a dramatic increase in productivity for developers by
offering a collaborative work environment. Like other components
in Oracle9iDS, Designer offers fast, integrated access
to the version control, dependency management, and impact analysis
tools in Oracle9i Software Configuration Manager.
