Rapid Application Development (RAD) capabilities in Oracle9iDS based on declarative frameworks and visual editors, dramatically increase the productivity of Internet application development for Java, XML, and PL/SQL developers. For Java and XML developers, Oracle Business Components for Java (BC4J) that is included in Oracle9i JDeveloper, is an integrated J2EE and XML-based framework for rapidly building reusable transactional business logic. BC4J applications built using JDeveloper can be deployed to Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE on Oracle9iAS. For PL/SQL developers, Oracle9i Forms Developer offers a productive RAD environment for building enterprise-class, database-centric applications in a short timeframe. The declarative environment provides integrated builders, re-entrant wizards, built-ins, WYSIWYG editors, and property palettes that enable you to build sophisticated and highly interactive database forms and business logic with minimal coding effort. Forms development productivity is enhanced through remote, three-tier debugging and the Java API (JDAPI). You can debug your Forms application in a browser from your development environment and see the application run as it would when it is deployed. You can also remotely debug a running Forms session by attaching the debugger to a Forms session of another user—this way you can debug the application on your own screen while the user interacts with the application. JDAPI, a Java 2 API, enables Java programmers to programmatically do anything that can be visually done in Forms Developer, plus more. This makes JDAPI an ideal tool for writing scripts that perform repetitive tasks on large numbers of Forms module files. Forms Developer is designed and optimized to build Oracle9i transactional database applications. Tight integration with Oracle9i Database provides native services for database connection and automatic insert, delete, and update management—you don’t have to implement low-level code for communication with the database. Through code-based integration, you can also access Java Stored Procedures, EJBs, and XML from within your Forms applications. |
