The Forms Server can be configured to use HTTP for communication between the client and server. With this method, Forms messages can pass through firewalls (which only allow HTTP traffic to pass).
A Web server configured to run in HTTP sockets mode can also be configured to use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for private, encrypted communications.
Note that in order to use SSL with Forms, the Web server must be SSL-ready. Client browsers must also be SSL-ready.
