In the past, the Forms Server provided load balancing only when used in conjunction with the Oracle Application Server (OAS). This implementation required a cartridge.
Now, using CGI-BIN scripts, you can implement load balancing without the use of a cartridge and without the use of OAS. CGI-BIN load balancing allows you to use any generic Web server in your Forms Server implementation, as long as that server supports CGI.
