Management Servers and Intelligent Agents
  • Management Servers work with Intelligent Agents on nodes to discover services, and manage jobs and events.
  • An Intelligent Agent is installed on each managed node to administer the Oracle services on that node.
  • Intelligent Agents execute jobs on targets in the order in which they are received, and notify the management server of the result.
  • When an event occurs on a target, the Intelligent Agent notifies the Management Server.
  • If an agent is unavailable, the Management Server reports that node and all its services as unavailable.
  • Both management servers and agents queue messages if the other party is not available.
  • An Intelligent Agent can receive jobs and events from more than one administrator, and from more than one repository.
