When Oracle WebDB is installed, the DBA can choose to install the WebDB HTTP Listener, a lightweight Web server that includes a PL/SQL gateway to enable communication between Web browsers and the database. Once installation is complete, the DBA can change the Listener and PL/SQL gateway settings at any time within WebDB.

If a Web server is already available, WebDB provides:

A PL/SQL Cartridge that can be added to the Oracle Application Server 4.0.
A Common Gateway Interface (CGI) that can be used with other Web servers such as those provided by Netscape or Microsoft, or an Apache Web server.
