Before you create rules with Rule Author, if you are using Oracle Application Server, you must first create a user with appropriate privileges. This allows you to log in to the Rule Author application.
When your application is configured with the JAZN provider for security, you can use the default user, or you need to create a Rule Author user with Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Application Server Control Console. If the container is not configured with JAZN XML provider, you should refer to the appropriate security documentation for information about creating users.
To create a Rule Author user:
In Enterprise Manager, from the Cluster Topology page, click the name of the OC4J instance where Rule Author is deployed.
Enterprise Manager displays the OC4J home page for the selected instance.
Click Administration to display a list of administration tasks you can perform on the selected OC4J instance.
Click the task icon in the Security Providers row of the table.
On the Security Providers page, click Instance Level Security.
On the Instance Level Security page, click Realms.
In the jazn.com row of the Results table, click the number in the Users column.
Enterprise Manager displays the list of users defined for the selected security provider.
Click the Create button.
In the Name field, enter the name you want to use to log in to Rule Author (for example, ruleadmin
).
Enter and confirm the password for this user.
In the Assign Roles section, double-click or use the arrows to assign the rule-administrators
role to this user (see Figure 8-2).
When you are finished, click OK.
Return to the OC4J home page and restart the Rule Author application.
