This preface introduces the new and changed administrative features of Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0). This information is mostly useful to users who have managed previous releases of Oracle Application Server, including Oracle Application Server 10g Release 1 (9.0.4), 10g Release 2 (10.1.2), or 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.0.0).
The new administrative features of Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0) include:
Management of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) components. Those components include:
Oracle Enterprise Service Bus. See Section 1.5.6.
Oracle BPEL Process Manager. See Section 1.5.7.
Oracle Business Activity Monitoring. See Section 1.5.8.
Oracle Web Services Manager. See Section 1.5.9.
Support for OC4J Java Single Sign-On (Java SSO), a lighter-weight single sign-on solution supplied with OC4J. See Section 6.5.
Support for creating groups and specifying a group for each OC4J instance. See Section 2.3.3.2.
New features in Application Server Control, including:
The ability to create and delete OC4J instances from the Application Server Control Console. See Section 6.1.1 and Section 6.1.2.
The ability to create and delete groups from the Application Server Control Console. See Section 2.3.3.2 and Section 6.2.3.
A new Runtime Ports page that summarizes all the ports currently in use by components of the Oracle Application Server cluster topology. See Section 2.3.3 and Chapter 4.
A new Routing ID page that allows you to view and modify the routing ID assigned to your application servers, OC4J instances, and deployed applications. See Section 2.3.3.
A new Topology Network Configuration page that you can use to configure the members and the properties of the cluster topology. See Section 6.2.
