Description

Service-Oriented Architecture

New. Siebel Order Management is now implemented through the use of business services and workflows to allow for greater flexibility and easier configuration.

Signals

New. In this release, every interaction between components occurs by way of an API invocation that you can configure or redirect. These API invocations are named signals. Signals invoke business service methods and workflows to complete functions. Signals are defined in the Administration - Order Management screen, Signals view.

Variable Maps

New. Applications require a consistent way of loading, querying, and synchronizing transactional data. Variable maps provide a mechanism for mapping transactional data to a common namespace regardless of the data source.

Product Selection and Pricing Engine

New. The PSP engine is used to calculate prices, determine eligibility, and make product recommendations. The PSP engine can be used in any situation where a sequence of transformations is applied to a set of input data, such as a list of products or a list of order line items. You can configure the logic encapsulated in a PSP procedure.

The PSP engine is an administration and run-time framework consisting of Siebel Workflow, the Row Set Transformation Toolkit business service, and the Variable Maps mechanism.

PSP Waterfall

New. PSP applications use waterfalls to show the line-item details of how a figure was calculated. A waterfall is an applet or a pop-up window that provides line-item explanation about field values, such as the figures that were used to arrive at a particular value in a field.

Waterfalls are used by sales representatives to gain visibility into the pricing rules applied, and they are used by business managers for analysis, for example, to analyze the effectiveness of promotions or to analyze margin compliance.

Unified Messaging

New. The Unified Messaging framework is used to format and display messages for the following features: Product Recommendation, Product Promotion, Pricer, and Eligibility.

Data Validation Manager

Modified documentation for C/OM in this release. The Data Validation Manager business service validates business component data based on a set of rules defined in an administration view in the run-time client.

Approvals Manager

Modified feature for C/OM in this release. Using the Approval Manager business service, you can define a number of approval levels without the need for programming, scripting, or configuring. You can define both basic or multiple step approval processing levels based on the needs of your organization. You can invoke approval processing from a workflow or a run-time event.

Asset-Based Ordering Methods Reference

Modified documentation for C/OM in this release. Asset-Based Ordering provides advanced order types such as updates, suspends, and deletes, for your existing assets.

Projected Asset Cache

Modified feature for C/OM in this release. The Projected Asset Cache is a persistent business service that loads all assets, open orders, and quote line items matching a specified search specification into memory using the most efficient SQL queries possible. The Projected Asset Cache can be used by any application that needs a consolidated view of product instances across the quote, order, or asset lifecycle.

Changes to Projected Asset Cache for this release include a more flexible API, as well as its use of the Unified Messaging framework for message generation.

Compound Product Validation

Modified feature for C/OM in this release. The Compound Product Validation Engine business service is a set of methods that allows the Compound Product Validation Engine to be initiated through Workflow. The business service includes methods to validate a network and display rules violations.

Copy Service

New. The Copy service is a general-purpose mechanism for copying data from one business object to another (such as from an opportunity to a quote). Copy service involves a new administration view for defining the soft-coded mappings.

Other Component Business Services for C/OM

New. Nearly all C/OM functions are now encapsulated in business services with clearly defined APIs. This enhancement allows you to extend or replace the Siebel Business Application's preconfigured features.
