Boolean Operators

A basic search license allows you to perform searches using the strict Boolean retrieval model which offers very precise control over what is retrieved during a search. This model excludes the text that does not conform exactly to the search criteria.

When searching for matching rows in a table or document, this model uses strict Boolean operations for combining search terms. There is no question of the degree to which a match is found—all matches must be exact.

For example, performing a search for Computers AND Monitors makes sure that only documents or database records containing both words are retrieved. For a list of Boolean operators, see Search Operators and Connectives.
