Configuring Mobile Alerts

In the Mobile Alerts view, you can select which types of event-driven wireless message alerts you want to receive on your device.

You must have already configured your mobile device, as described in Configuring Mobile Devices and Configuring Message Delivery.

Normally, all event-driven alert messages are sent to the highest priority device and address for a recipient. In this case, individual settings for receiving alerts are ignored.

However, if your system administrator allows it, you may override the device priority settings in the Mobile Alerts list and specify to receive an alert on a specific device.

When you enable an alert for a particular device in the Mobile Alerts list, the alert is sent to the highest priority address defined for that device, regardless of the device priority settings previously established.

For information about how alerts are configured in your organization, consult your system administrator.

For example, you may choose to receive a wireless message alert automatically each time you are assigned a new activity, if your system administrator has activated such an alert. In this case, you can enable or disable this specific alert for a mobile device. To do this, you create a record in the Mobile Alerts list for each alert and set the alert's status to On or Off.

NOTE:  Alternatively, your company may choose to send some alert messages manually, using the Send Wireless Message command, to your highest priority device and address. A manual alert message is not event-driven. You cannot customize such alerts through the Mobile Alerts list.

The following are the settings in the Mobile Alerts list:

  • Alert Name. Select the particular alert you want to enable or disable for the device selected in the Mobile Devices list. To have more alerts made available to you that meet your particular needs, contact your system administrator.
  • Status. For each mobile alert that has been added for a device, you can specify whether the alert is activated or deactivated:
    • To enable an alert so you can receive wireless message alerts of the specified type on this device, set the value to On.
    • To disable an alert so you do not receive message alerts of this type on any device, set the value to Off.

NOTE:  Disabling an alert (setting it to Off) for one of your devices disables it for all of your devices, if the alert is not On for any other device. If you want to receive a particular alert on a particular device, set the Status to On.
