Siebel Data Quality Administration Guide > Configuring Siebel Data Quality > Match PurposeThe concept of match purpose is used by the embedded SSA-NAME3 software of the Matching Server. SSA-NAME3 supports different match purposes so that different fields are used in matching for different types of records. Each of the Account, Contact, and List Mgmt Contact Prospect business components has an associated SSA Business_component_name Match Purpose vendor parameter that you can set to one of the following values, which correspond to match purposes:
Each of these values specifies which fields in the record count against the total match score. Fields are defined as optional or mandatory as shown in Table 17. When a field defined as optional contains a null value in either of the records being compared, it does not contribute to the total match score for the record pair. When a field defined as mandatory contains a null value in either of the records being compared, the null value is treated the same as a non-null value and does contribute to the overall match score for the record pair. For more information about match purpose, refer to the SSA-NAME3 documentation. Configuring Match PurposeUse the following process to configure the match purpose for an existing business component.
