Overview of the Offline Client for Life Sciences


The Offline Client for Life Sciences is designed to increase the productivity of mobile sales users and to provide the tools a sales representative needs to complete a sales call. The Offline Client for Life Sciences synchronizes data with Siebel CRM through Web services. It also provides offline mobile support for key sales tasks including call planning, call execution with sample drops and signature capture, and delivery of electronic presentations according to Personalized Content Delivery (PCD). It also allows brand marketing and sales operations users to manage assets and message plans.

The Offline Client for Life Sciences includes the following applications:

  • Sync application. The Sync application manages network connectivity and authentication with Siebel CRM. It also manages the synchronization of data between the local database of the offline client and with Siebel CRM as required. Typically, the Sync application runs in the background; users rarely have to interact with it.
  • Sales application. The Sales application provides the mobile sales application and user interface designed and optimized for mobile PC pen computing and touch computing. The Sales application operates in disconnected mode with the local database.
  • Asset Message Planner (AMP) application. The AMP application allows brand marketing and sales operations users to manage assets and message plans.
