Testing the Tomcat Web Server Installation (UNIX)

Use the following procedure to test your Tomcat Web server configuration.

NOTE:  The example uses Tomcat version 4 installed at /usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-4. The exact text you use varies depending on your particular deployment.

To test the Tomcat Web server installation under UNIX

  1. Start the Tomcat server by executing the following command:

    /usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-4/bin/startup.sh.

  2. Open a Web browser and attempt to browse to the location where you have installed Analytics Web.

In the example, the URL is:

    http://<Server Name>:8080/analytics

If you see a login page, you have successfully installed Analytics Web.

NOTE:  The port number (in this example, 8080) is that on which a default installation of Tomcat listens. If your installation of Tomcat uses a different port, you need to change this value.
