Running the Siebel Analytics Installation Wizard (Windows)


This task is part of the Process of Installing the Siebel Analytics Platform Under Windows.

The Siebel Analytics software uses a standard Windows installation program (setup.exe) for installation. In general, the process of installing the Siebel Analytics software in Windows consists of:

  • Locating the installation software (on DVD or network) and license files.
  • Running the setup.exe file.
  • Responding to installer wizard prompts for Siebel Analytics and for Siebel Data Warehouse.
  • Rebooting the computer.

When you are finished with the tasks described in this chapter, the components listed in Table 10 are installed.

To run the Siebel Analytics installation wizard under Windows

  1. Access the installation files, and then run the program setup.exe.
  2. The installation wizard window appears and prompts you through each screen, as shown in the following table of Siebel Analytics Installation wizard screens and prompts for Windows.

    To continue to the next screen, click Next. To return to a previous screen, click Back.

    CAUTION:  If you reinstall the Siebel Analytics software in the same location as a previous installation, make sure that the installation folder and the data folder are not shared.

    NOTE:  The Analytics Web, Analytics Client, and Analytics Server components can be installed to run on separate machines.

    License Agreement

    Select "I accept..." and click Next.

    License File

    The License file is an XML file corresponding to the installation type you are licensed for. This file is emailed to you, or installed on your corporate server.

    Select the appropriate XML file in the License File screen. Click Next.

    Installation Directories

    To accept the default installation (to the C:\ drive), click Next.

    To change the default (recommended), click browse and establish the installation path, then click Next.

    Setup Type

    The typical choices are:

    Complete Suite (all of the following)

    Siebel Analytics Server

    • Siebel Analytics Server
    • Siebel Analytics Server Administration Tool
    • Siebel Analytics Clustering Server
    • Siebel Analytics Scheduler

    Siebel Analytics Web Server

    • Siebel Analytics Web (including Corda PopChart)
    • Siebel Analytics Web Proxy
    • Siebel Analytics Catalog Manager

    Siebel Analytics Client Tools

    • Siebel Analytics Clients (nQcmd.exe and nqclient.exe)
    • Siebel Analytics ODBC Driver
    • Siebel Analytics Catalog Manager
    • Siebel Analytics Server Administration Tool

    Data Warehouse

    • Siebel Data Warehouse
    • Data Warehouse Application Console

    Custom (only for use by experienced Administrators)

    • Data Mining Engine for Real-Time Scoring

    NOTE:  If you already have installed one or more Siebel Analytics components, running the installer wizard again to install additional components causes a warning message to be displayed, stating that you may continue to install features, but that reinstalling may overwrite any patches that you have installed.

     

    NOTE:  The setup type you choose affects the number and type of screens that subsequently appear. See Notes on Your Installer Choices.

    • For the purpose of this procedure, it is assumed that you have selected Complete Suite.

      However, for some types of installation, such as Data Mining Engine, you must select Custom and proceed from there.

    • If you are planning to install Siebel Analytics Web Server and Siebel Analytics Server on separate machines, follow the procedures shown in Configuring Analytics on Separate Machines Under Windows. In brief, during the installation, you do the following:
      • For the Web Server Machine

        While running Siebel Analytics installer, select the Siebel Analytics Web Server installation option. This installs the ODBC driver, ODBC Client, Answers, and Delivers files.

      • For the Siebel Analytics Server Machine

        While running Siebel Analytics installer, select the Siebel Analytics Server installation option.

        NOTE:  It is also possible to choose the Complete installation and not make use of the Web components on this machine.

    Click Next.

    Prerequisite Check

    Select one or more database clients to be used to connect the Siebel Analytics Server to the relational database.

    The choices are:

    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • IBM DB2 Client
    • Oracle Client

    Click Next.

    Service Start Type

    Choose whether these Siebel Analytics Services start automatically at machine startup time or need to be started manually:

    • Analytics Server (default is Automatic)
    • Analytics Scheduler (default is Manual)
    • Analytics Cluster (default is Manual)
    • Analytics Web (default is Automatic)

    Click Next.

    Selection Error Message Language

    The error messages from the Siebel Analytics Server are in one language only. Typically, these are relational server-side messages only.

    The Siebel Analytics Administrator can choose which language to display these messages in. The default is English. Click Next.

    Cache Size

    Choose the disk space to be allotted to the Siebel Analytics Server cache. Accept the cache size of 256 MB or enter a different size. (The size can be changed later in the NQSConfig.INI file.) Click Next.

    Analytics Cluster Server Account Name

    The Windows server account name that each of the servers should run under. This account name should be the same on all clustered servers.

    Accept the default (LocalSystem), or specify the account name (in the format domain\user) and the password. Click Next.

    Scheduler Server Name

    The default is the name of the machine on which Analytics Scheduler is being installed. If the Scheduler runs on the same machine as the Analytics Web Server, leave this field blank. Click Next.

    Siebel Data Warehouse Components

    Choose any or all of the following components:

    • Application Console Server
    • Application Console Client
    • Application Console Client Utilities

    Click Next.

    NOTE:  These components require that Java SDK 1.4.1 or higher be installed on your installation machine.

    Wait

    Placeholder screen appearing while the installer accepts all the choices you have made. Click Next.

    Summary Information (preinstallation)

    A list of all the features you have chosen, and the directory where they are to be installed. You should read this information to confirm it is correct. Click Next.

    Installing

    Placeholder screen that appears while the installer installs all the features you have selected. Click Next when done.

    Summary Information (postinstallation)

    Acknowledgement that the installation wizard has finished installing Siebel Analytics. Click Next.

    Restart Computer

    Choose whether or not to immediately restart your computer and click Finish:

    • If you click Yes, the computer shuts down and restarts.
    • If you click No, you need to restart the computer before you use Siebel Analytics.

    NOTE:  If you are installing Siebel Analytics applications, the repository is created according to the application you have purchased. See About Analytics Applications Licensing.
