Setting Up Your External Communications System

You must perform the following steps before you can configure Siebel Communications Server:

• For Siebel CTI, set up your PBX or ACD (automatic call distribution) switch, and install and configure the CTI middleware. Refer to your vendor documentation.
• For email support, such as for Siebel Email Response or other features, install and configure the email servers and set up mail accounts as appropriate. Refer to your vendor documentation. For issues specific to Siebel Email Response, see Siebel Email Response Administration Guide.
• For Siebel Wireless Messaging, install and configure the MobileSys MX wireless messaging engine (for one-way wireless messaging), and establish the necessary connections to individual network operators or to the MobileSys Network. Two-way wireless messaging requires connecting to the MobileSys Network.

Once you have performed these preparatory tasks, you are ready to perform Siebel Server setup tasks.
