Defining Product Lines

Product lines are logical groupings of products. When you define a product line, you name it and then specify all the products in that particular line. If you have products that have already been defined, you can associate them with the product line. You can assign product line managers.

To create a product line

1. Navigate to the Product Administration screen > Product Lines view.
2. In the Product Lines list, create a new record, and complete the necessary fields.

   Some fields are described in the following table.

   Field	Comments
   Product Line	The name of the product line to which products belong.
   Product Line Manager	The name of the product line managers.
   Products	The products associated with the product line. You can add or delete a product from a product line. A product can belong to more than one product line. A product must exist before it can be associated with a product line.

To associate a product with a product line

1. Navigate to the Product Administration screen.
2. In the Products list, select a product record.
3. Click the Product Line field select button.
4. From the Product Lines dialog box, select the product line you want to associate with the product.
5. Click Add to move the product line from the Available column to the Selected column, and then click OK.
