About Using Alarms for Activities

Alarms can notify you of the start time for a pending activity. The Alarm check box in each activity record turns on this notification. For alarm notification, a dialog box or pop-up window appears in the Siebel application window at a predetermined interval before the start of an activity. You can snooze the alarm to have it reappear at a specified interval. For more information about snoozing alarms see Snoozing and Dismissing Alarms. If the activity is a recurring one, the alarm appears at the specified time before the start of each instance of the activity. You can specify the time interval at which an alarm will trigger for each activity when you create it. You can also specify one default time interval for all activities. To learn how to specify one default time interval at which an alarm is triggered before all activities, see Setting Up Default Alarm Lead Times.

Alarms are triggered and displayed only if you are logged in to your Siebel application at the time of the alarm. If you log in after an alarm was scheduled to trigger, it triggers when you log in. Also, an alarm does not appear if your Siebel application is not the active application on your desktop when the alarm is due. Instead, you hear the alarm chime and you see a flashing button appear in your taskbar. You can click the flashing button in the taskbar to view the alarm.

Depending on the configuration of your Siebel application, you may or may not have access to alarm functionality. See your Siebel administrator for more information.
