Installing the Siebel Reports Server


NOTE:  After unzipping the installation files, set permissions for each file before beginning the installation.

Use the following instructions to install the Siebel Reports Server.

NOTE:  The following procedure is for installing the base product. For patch installation instructions, refer to the Maintenance Release Guide provided with the patch.

To install the Siebel Reports Server

  1. If you are installing from DVD, insert the appropriate DVD for the Siebel applications you are installing into the DVD drive, and mount this DVD:
    • Siebel eBusiness Applications, Base Applications for UNIX_OS
    • Siebel Industry Applications, Base Applications for UNIX_OS

      where:

      UNIX_OS = Your UNIX operating system, such as AIX, HP-UX, or Solaris

      NOTE:  The volume label for the DVD is seaUNIX_OSunibase (for Siebel eBusiness Applications) or siaUNIX_OSunibase (for Siebel Industry Applications), where UNIX_OS is aix, hpux, or sol.

  2. Navigate to the following directory:

    Server_Ancillary/actuate

  3. Double-click setupUNIX_OS.

    where:

    UNIX_OS = The type of UNIX you are installing

  4. The Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Siebel Reports Server screen appears. Click Next.
  5. To install the server software in a new instance, select None as the default and click Next. Proceed to Step 6.

    To install a new language in an existing instance, select the displayed instance and click Next. Proceed to Step 11.

  6. Use the Browse button to select a different drive or directory or select the displayed default directory for file installation and then click Next.

    This directory name must not contain spaces, although underscores are allowed.

  7. Click Next.

    The installer prompts you to select one of the following products to install:

    • Actuate iServer and Management Console for Siebel
    • Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel

      NOTE:  Installing Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel requires Internet connection at the time of installation. For more information, see Preinstallation Tasks for the Siebel Reports Server.

  8. Choose one of the following options:
    • Install the products for which your organization has a license key by selecting both check boxes.

      NOTE:  Before proceeding, review the preinstallation requirements for each module you plan to install. See Preinstallation Tasks for the Siebel Reports Server and other applicable sections.

    • Select one or both of the products for installation and configuration.

      CAUTION:  When installing another instance of the Actuate Management Console, you must have 300 MB of extra disk space on your system drive (usually your C: drive) to accommodate the Actuate iServer. The Actuate iServer and Management Console are installed and uninstalled together.

  9. Click Next.

    NOTE:  If you install all licensed components at once, the Siebel Reports Server Installer prompts you for the installation parameters of each component individually and in the sequence required.

    The installer prompts you to select the type of installation setup you prefer.

  10. Choose the type of Siebel Reports Server installation to execute from the following options and click Next.
    • Typical. Installs the components used for the Siebel Reports Server.
    • Compact. This setup option is the same as Typical.
    • Custom. This setup option is the same as Typical.
  11. Select the languages you wish to install for the Siebel Reports Server.

    Servers are installed, at a minimum, with a base language and, optionally, with one or more additional languages.

    NOTE:  Unless your database is Unicode enabled, Siebel Systems does not support installation of any language other than U.S. English on top of a base Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, or Korean Language Pack.

  12. Click Next.

    The installer program performs a validation check to make sure that the installation prerequisites are met.

    If they are not, a prompt appears, stating which installation requirement is not met.

  13. Read and accept the terms of the Actuate Software License Agreement and click Next.

    NOTE:  If you choose not to accept the terms, you will not be able to continue with the installation.

    The Locale Information screen for the Actuate iServer Configuration appears.

  14. Specify the default locale information and the time zone that will be used for this installation of the Reports Server and click Next.

    Individual users can also change the locale and language from within the Siebel application. For more information on changing the locale and language for reports, see the Siebel Reports Administration Guide.

  15. Select Yes to have the Process Management Daemon start the iServer automatically.

    By selecting Yes, you will not have to manually start the iServer after starting the Process Management Daemon.

    Click Next.

  16. On the Configure Actuate System Administration Password screen, enter a password that will be used to configure the Actuate iServer.

    This is the Actuate iServer System user password mentioned in the Preinstallation Tasks for the Siebel Reports Server.

    Click Next.

  17. You can accept the defaults shown for the host name (which might be an IP address instead of a host name) and the port number (8100) of the machine where the Process Management Daemon runs. Click Next.

    You may choose to designate a different port number for the Actuate Process Management Daemon. For more information, see the Installing Actuate iServer System manual in the Actuate folder of the Siebel eBusiness Third-Party Bookshelf.

  18. You can accept the defaults shown for the host name (which might be an IP address instead of a host name) and the port number (8000) of the machine where the iServer runs. Click Next.

    You may choose to designate a different port number for the iServer. For more information, see the Installing Actuate iServer System manual in the Actuate folder of the Siebel eBusiness Third-Party Bookshelf.

  19. Type the Encyclopedia volume name and click Next.

    The defaulted Encyclopedia volume name is the host name of the machine that runs the Actuate iServer. You may choose to designate a different volume name for the Encyclopedia volume.

  20. On the Configure Actuate System Administration Password screen, type a user-specified password for the Actuate system administrator.

    System Administration is accessed through the Actuate Management Console.

    The system administration password entered here is the one used when you log into System Administration from the Management Console. The default user name is Administrator.

  21. On the Management Console HTTP Service Information screen, specify the HTTP port number that the Actuate Management Console will use.

    This is the port you will connect your browser to when accessing the HTTP service for the Actuate Management Console. The port number default is 8900.

    You may choose to designate a different port number for the Management Console HTTP Service. For more information on port numbers, see the Installing Actuate iServer System manual in the Actuate folder of the Siebel eBusiness Third-Party Bookshelf.

  22. If you are installing Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel along with Actuate iServer and Management Console for Siebel, go to Step 23.

    If you are installing Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel only, choose the set up type to execute from the following options and click Next.

    Typical. Installs the components used for the Siebel Reports Server.

    Compact. This setup option is the same as Typical.

    Custom. This setup option is the same as Typical.

    • If you are installing Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel only, select the languages you wish to install and click Next.
  23. Read and accept the terms of the Actuate Software License Agreement and click Next.

    NOTE:  If you choose not to accept the terms, you will not be able to continue with the installation.

  24. On the Actuate HTTP Service Destination screen, use the Browse button to select a different drive or directory or select the displayed default directory for the Actuate HTTP Service software installation and click Next.

    This directory name must not contain spaces, although underscores are allowed.

  25. If you are installing Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel along with Actuate iServer and Management Console for Siebel, go to Step 26.

    If you are installing Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel only, specify the default locale information and the time zone that will be used for this installation and click Next.

    Individual users can also change the locale and language from within the Siebel application. For more information about changing the locale and language for reports, see the Siebel Reports Administration Guide.

  26. On the Actuate HTTP Service Information screen, specify the HTTP port number that the Actuate HTTP Service will use.

    This is the port number you will connect your browser to when accessing the HTTP service for the Actuate Active Portal. The port number default is 8700.

    You may choose to designate a different port number for this Actuate Portal HTTP Service. For more information on port numbers, see the Installing Actuate iServer System manual in the Actuate folder of the Siebel eBusiness Third-Party Bookshelf.

  27. Specify the account information that will be used to run the Actuate HTTP service for Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel.
  28. If you are installing Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel along with Actuate iServer and Management Console for Siebel, go to Step 31.

    If you are installing Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel only, enter the Encyclopedia volume name of the Actuate iServer and click Next.

  29. If you are installing Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel only, enter the host name (which might be an IP address instead of a host name) and the port number of the Actuate iServer and click Next.

    This is the port number you entered in Step 18.

    This information will be used by Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel to contact the Actuate iServer.

  30. If you are installing Actuate Active Portal JSP and Reports View Adapter for Siebel only, enter the host name and port number that Siebel Reports View Adapter will use to contact the Process Management Daemon and click Next.

    This is the port number you entered in Step 17.

  31. The installer displays the location into which it will install the Siebel Reports Server and any other features you have elected to install. It also displays the file size.

    If this is acceptable, click Next. Otherwise, click Back to adjust your installation parameters or location.

    The installer proceeds to install the specified files. After the files have been copied to the installation location, this message appears:

    Setup did not find the lang language pack on the current media. Please insert the DVD containing the lang language pack and select the setupUNIX_OS file from the lang folder.

    where:

    lang = The code for the language you are installing, such as enu for U.S. English.

    UNIX_OS = Your UNIX operating system, such as aix, hp, or sol.

  32. Remove the current DVD from the drive and insert the appropriate Language Pack DVD into the DVD drive of the same server.
  33. Navigate to the Server_Ancillary/actuate/language directory (where language stands for the Language Pack you want to deploy, such as enu for U.S. English) and double-click setupUNIX_OS.
  34. After the Language Pack installation is complete, an information screen appears, stating:

    Please re-insert the base DVD and browse to the setupUNIX_OS file to enable setup to continue.

    where:

    UNIX_OS = Your UNIX operating system, such as aix, hp, or sol.

  35. Click OK.
  36. Reinsert the base DVD, navigate to the Server_Ancillary/actuate directory, and double-click setupUNIX_OS to continue with the Siebel Reports Server installation.

    where:

    UNIX_OS = The type of UNIX you are installing

    The Installer screen appears.

  37. Click Finish.

Starting and Stopping the Actuate Management Console HTTP Service

When the Actuate iServer installation installs Management Console, batch and script files are created to start and stop the Management Console.

To start and stop the Actuate Management Console Service

  • Start Management Console using the StartMC.sh or StartMC.bat scripts.
  • Stop Management Console using the StopMC.sh or StopMC.bat scripts.

These scripts are located in $AC_SERVER_HOME/ManagementConsole/bin.
