Installing in Console Mode

The following procedures describe the installation of the Siebel application in console mode.

NOTE:  Because there is no Browse button in console mode, you should note the paths for both your base DVD and your language DVD installation executable programs, so that you can enter this information when prompted (for example, /dvdrom/UNIX_OS/Server/Siebel_Enterprise_Server/setupUNIX_OS).

To install in console mode

  1. If you are installing from DVD, insert the appropriate DVD for the Siebel applications into the DVD drive of the chosen server, and mount this DVD:
    • Siebel eBusiness Applications, Base Applications for UNIX_OS
    • Siebel Industry Applications, Base Applications for UNIX_OS

      where:

UNIX_OS = Your UNIX operating system, such as AIX, HP-UX, or Solaris

NOTE:  The volume label for the DVD is seaUNIX_OSunibase (for Siebel eBusiness Applications) or siaUNIX_OSunibase (for Siebel Industry Applications), where UNIX_OS is aix, hpux, or sol.

  2. Navigate to the main installer directory, such as UNIX_OS/Server/Siebel_Enterprise_Server.

    where:

UNIX_OS = Your UNIX operating system, such as AIX, Solaris, or HPUX (for HP-UX)

  3. Execute the following command:

    ./setupUNIX_OS -is:javaconsole -console -args SS_SETUP_INI=main_installer_siebel.ini_path

    where:

    • UNIX_OS = Your UNIX operating system, such as aix, hp, or sol.
    • main_installer_siebel.ini_path = The full path, including the filename, to the main installer siebel.ini file that you edited using the procedures in Editing the siebel.ini Files for Console Mode Installation.

NOTE:  There should be no spaces before and after the equals sign in the command.

You can append additional flags to your command. For more information, see Additional Flags for Installation Commands.

The console mode installation script appears. See the module-specific installation chapters later in this guide regarding the definition of specific prompts.

  4. Launch the configuration in console mode or GUI mode.
