Setting Up a Network Connection for Handheld Devices

After installing the Siebel Handheld application on the handheld device, you need to set up a network connection for the handheld device so that the device can communicate with the queue manager by way of an IP network through the HTTP protocol.

For example, the queue manager is configured on a computer in your company's network. If you plan to use Microsoft ActiveSync to connect your device to a laptop and then to the company trusted network, or plan to connect the device to the company network directly, follow these steps:

To set up a network connection

  1. Tap Start > Settings, then tap the Connections tab.
  2. Tap the Connections icon, and then the Advanced tab.
  3. Tap the Select Networks button.

    The Network Management screen appears.

  4. Select My Work Network from the first drop-down list, and tap OK.

NOTE:  If you plan to connect the handheld device to the queue manager through a wireless network, such as a wireless LAN 802.11 network or a wireless WAN network (for example, a GPRS or CDMA network), or a VPN, follow the instructions provided by the device manufacturer, the wireless modem manufacturer or the wireless carrier.
