Additional Steps for Oracle Database Users Under Windows

To create search indices on an Oracle database, you must set up an ODBC data source. The procedure below is for Windows 2000.

To set up an ODBC data source for an Oracle database

From the Windows Start menu, choose Settings > Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, click Administrative Tools, then click Data Sources (ODBC).

The ODBC Data Source Administrator appears.

Click the System DSN tab, then click Add to create a new Data Source.
Click the Add button to create a new Data Source.

The ODBC Data Source Administrator window appears.

Select Microsoft ODBC for Oracle, and click OK.
In the Setup window, enter Siebel_Search for the Data Source Name, and your database connect string in the Server field.
Click OK.
