Working with Siebel Analytics Narrative Views


The Narrative view displays the results as one or more paragraphs of text. You can type in a sentence with placeholders for each column in the results and specify how rows should be separated.

To work with narrative text

  1. Navigate to Siebel Answers, and display the request with which you want to work.
  2. In the right pane, click the Views tab.
  3. In the Views area, click the Narrative link.
  4. The Add/Edit Narrative page appears.

  5. Complete the fields. Fields are described in Table 16.
  6. The following characters are reserved characters:

  7. When you are done, click Finished.
  8. After narrative text is created, you can save it in the Web Catalog.

Select a format
Indicates the format for the narrative text. Choices include HTML, XML, WML, VXML, and Plain Text.
Prefix
Specifies the header for the narrative. This text appears at the beginning of the narrative.
Narrative
Indicates the narrative text in the that will display for each row in the results. Use "@ n" to include the results from the designated column in the narrative. For example, "@1" inserts the results from the first column in the narrative, while "@3" inserts the results of the third column.
Row Separator
Specifies a row separator tag. To use a separator other than the default for the format, clear the Use default row separator check box, and type the desired row separator in the Row Separator box.
Use default row separator
Connect x-y point values and display them as lines. Often used to show patterns and trends in data that is ordered by time.
Postfix
Specifies the footer text that appear at the bottom of the narrative.
You can include markup tags in the postfix text box. Be sure your narrative ends in a row separator, or the footer begins with a row separator, to display the footer information on a separate line from the actual narrative.
