Using Voice over IP in Siebel eCollaboration


Voice over IP allows the caller to use the microphone and speakers on the computer to converse with an agent.

Voice over IP is invoked in a session only if the caller chooses voice over IP as the communication mode when he or she requests the collaboration session.

During an active voice over IP session, the caller can use options associated with the audio control button in the task bar's system tray to change audio settings or terminate voice over IP.

NOTE:  It is recommended that you do not change the audio settings for low bandwidth conditions (128 kbaud or slower).

To change audio settings during a voice over IP session

  1. The caller right-clicks the audio control button in the task bar's system tray.
  2. The audio control menu appears.

  3. The caller does one of the following:

The caller can control volume levels for the microphone and the speakers.

To control volume levels

  1. The caller double clicks the audio control button in the task bar's system tray.
  2. An audio level control appears.

  3. The caller can change the sound level for the microphone or the speakers.

The caller can terminate voice over IP during a collaboration session. Follow-me browsing and chat remain active.

To terminate voice over IP

The agent can turn the microphone and speakers of either participant on or off.
