Configuring Message Delivery

The Message Delivery list allows you to enter wireless messaging address information for each of your mobile devices. You must enter information in three fields to define a wireless messaging address:

Message Delivery Profile. Describes the network and message type that will be used to send wireless messages to your device.

For example, if your device is connected to wireless network operator ABC and uses the SMS protocol to receive messages, then your administrator creates a message delivery profile, such as "ABC Network SMS," for either the Wireless Messaging 1-Way or Wireless Messaging 2-Way driver.

If your administrator has not done so, you must associate the appropriate profile with your mobile device to receive messages. Consult your administrator for guidance on which profile to choose, or to have a profile added for your device.

Device Address. A unique identifier for a particular mobile device, enabling messages to be sent to this device.
Frequently, the device address required to send an SMS or TAP page message is the phone number or PIN number of the device.

If your company uses MobileSys Network in the United States, the phone number is preceded with a numeral 1. If you are using MobileSys Network in other countries, contact MobileSys for additional information and prefixes.

For WAP V1.2 Push messages, the device address may be either a user-defined address or any device address understood by the mobile network, such as the MSISDN or IP address of the device. Consult your administrator or service provider to determine your WAP V1.2 Push address.
Address Priority. Select a priority, from 1 - Highest to 6 - Unranked, for each address for each mobile device. Wireless messages are sent to the device with the highest device priority, and to the highest priority address for that device.

To guarantee message delivery, make sure that only one device address is assigned the highest address priority: only one address for a particular mobile device may have an address priority set to 1 - Highest.

Any other address must have the address priority set to 2 or a higher number. Do not attempt to define any additional addresses if an address with priority 6 already exists.
