About Wireless Messaging

Siebel Communications Server can send and receive messages in wireless message formats.

In a one-way wireless messaging scenario with Siebel Wireless Messaging, you use the MobileSys MX wireless messaging engine, which is included with Siebel Wireless Messaging. Using MobileSys MX, you can connect directly to network operators or connect to multiple network operators through the MobileSys Network.

In a two-way wireless messaging scenario, you connect directly to the MobileSys Network, without using MobileSys MX.

NOTE:  Siebel Wireless Messaging is available as an option for the Siebel Wireless application, or as an option for Siebel eBusiness Applications such as Siebel Call Center.

Administrators must configure mobile devices for users and create profiles for wireless messaging communications drivers. For details, see Administering Mobile Devices. End users may also configure their own mobile devices. For details, see Specifying Mobile Device Settings.

NOTE:  Messages sent using Siebel Wireless Messaging and received by mobile devices are subject to character-set limitations or requirements of the MobileSys MX Gateway or of network operators. In particular, if characters from the extended character set (for example, ¼ or ®) are included, the message may not be received. Contact your network operator for more information about supported characters.
