Architectural Overview

The Siebel Financial Services Connector for VCML is a configurable set of components that allows data to be exchanged between your Siebel Financial Services application and external VCML-based applications and databases. As shown in Figure 1, the Siebel Financial Services Connector for VCML is built on top of the Siebel eBusiness Financial Services eAI architecture, which in turn is built on top of Siebel eBusiness Application Integration (Siebel eAI) architecture. The Siebel Financial Services eAI framework has been built to support an XML messaging-based communication infrastructure.

Because Siebel Financial Services must integrate with many different applications, it supports building and deploying multiple connectors based on the flexible Siebel Financial Services eAI framework. Five connectors are built on this framework in this release—VCML Connector, AMS ACAPS Connector, IAA-XML Connector, ACORD P&C Connector, and IFX-XML Connector.

NOTE:  For details on Siebel Financial Services eAI, see Siebel Financial Services eBusiness Application Integration Guide.

The Siebel Financial Services Connector for VCML reads and generates XML using the VCML XML format for value chain data exchange. The VCML XML standard is a set of industry-specific vocabularies and transactions designed to allow collaboration across and within an enterprise. The flow of control through the connector is described in Components for Siebel FINS Connector for VCML.
