Running the Cycle Counting Engine


Follow these procedures to carry out cycle counts of inventory.

To run the Cycle Counting Engine interactively

  1. Navigate to Inventory > Cycle Counts.
  2. In the Inventory Locations list, select an inventory location for cycle counting.
  3. Do one of the following:

To review pending cycle counts and parts lists for cycle counting

  1. Navigate to Inventory > Cycle Counts.
  2. In the Inventory Locations list, select an inventory location.
  3. The Cycle Counts subview shows records describing each instance of a cycle count. Pending cycle counts have a status of Open or Assigned.

  4. Select a cycle count record.
  5. Click the hyperlink in the Cycle Counts record's Status field.
  6. The Part List tab shows all items included in the selected cycle count.

To record the results of a cycle count

  1. Navigate to Site Map > Cycle Counts.
  2. In the Cycle Counts list, select a cycle count record.
  3. Click the Part List view tab.
  4. In the Count field of each product record, enter the quantity counted.
  5. If a counted item is serialized:
    1. Select the product record.
    2. Enter a value in the Count field.
    3. Click the Counted Serial Numbers subview tab.
    4. In the Counted Serial Numbers list, create a record for each serialized asset that is an instance of that product.

To complete a cycle count

  1. Navigate to Site Map > Cycle Counts.
  2. In the Cycle Counts list, select a cycle count record.
  3. Click the Part List view tab.
  4. Click Count Complete.
  5. This populates the records in the Variance view and the Counted Serial Numbers subview.

To review a cycle count

  1. Navigate to Site Map > Cycle Counts.
  2. In the Cycle Counts list, select a cycle count record.
  3. Click the Variance view tab.
  4. Review the results (Original, Count, and Variance) of the product count and counted serial numbers, if applicable.
  5. To adjust the inventory, click Adjust.
