Reviewing the Upgrade Log Files

After an upgrade, you must review the log files for unacceptable errors. A Release 7.5.3 log parse utility summarizes the log files for simplified viewing. See Summarizing the Log Files. However, this utility is not a substitute for thoroughly reviewing the log files as described in Reviewing the Upgrade Log Files.

Location of the Log Files

The Release 7.5.3 Siebel Upgrade Wizard produces all log files for a given process in one directory, $SIEBEL_ROOT/siebsrvr/log/PROCESS, where PROCESS defaults to UPGRADEOPTION_ENVIRONMENT_VERSION. For example, all log files for a Siebel database schema upgrade of a development environment from Release 6.0.1 appear in $SIEBEL_ROOT/siebsrvr/log/upgrep_dev_601. You can select a different directory from the Log Output Directory prompt in the Database Server Configuration Utility.

NOTE:  If you are upgrading to a version prior to Release 7.5.3, the log files are located in $SIEBEL_ROOT/siebsrvr/log.

The log file directory contains the following files and subdirectories:
