Registering with an Auction Site

Before you can perform specific user tasks, such as bidding on items, you must register and log on to the auction site.

Registration is a one-time process that allows you to place bids at an auction site. Although you can browse auction catalogs without registering, you must register to place bids. In addition, if you specify that you want to register as a lister, you can post items in an auction.

To register as a new user

  1. From the Auctions screen, click Log In.

    2. The User Login screen appears.

  2. Click New User.

    3. The Personal Information screen appears.

    NOTE:  All fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

  3. Complete the fields on the Basic User Information screen and click Next.

    4. The Contact Information screen appears.

  4. Complete the fields on the Contact Information screen and click Provide Additional eAuction Registration Information.

    5. The Notification Preferences screen appears (Figure 5).

    NOTE:  If you click Continue, the Usage Terms screen appears. If you click I Agree, you will be added as an eSales user, but not as an auction user.

Registering for Notifications

In the following section you register for the types of notifications you want to receive about the status of your auction. Notifications are automated messages sent through email or wireless messaging.

You can select from the following four options:

NOTE:  If you do not select anything in a Notification field, the default of Do not notify me is set for that notification.

To register for notifications

  1. Complete the following fields on the Notification Preferences screen.

    Registration Confirmation
    Informs you when your registration has been confirmed.
    Bid Confirmation
    Informs you when your bid has been confirmed.
    Auction Alert Notification
    Informs you when an Auction Alert has found new auctions of interest to you.
    Outbid Notification
    Informs you when you are outbid.
    AutoBid Executed Notification
    Informs you when your AutoBid is executed.
    Winning Bid Notification
    Informs you when you win an auction.
    Lister's Bid Accepted Notification
    Informs you when a bid is accepted for an auction you listed.
    Lister's Auction Close Notification
    If you are registered as the lister, informs you when your auction closes.
    Lister's Invoice Close Notification
    If you are registered as the lister, informs you when the invoice for your auction fee closes.

  2. Click Next.

    3. The Mobile Device screen appears.

  3. Complete the following fields on the Mobile Device screen.

    Description
    Name
    Name for your wireless device.
    Login Preference
    Select the preferred manner of logging in.
    Primary Address
    Address of your wireless device.
    Communication Profile
    Select the profile you will use to communicate with your wireless device.

    NOTE:  If you do not want to use a mobile device for notifications, click Next.

  4. Click Next.

    5. The Seller Registration screen (Figure 6) appears.

Registering as a Bidder/Lister

In the following section you can register to be a lister in addition to being a bidder. A lister can list an item on the auction site for sale or for purchase. As a lister, you will need to enter credit card information to pay for any fees you may incur for using an eAuction, such as a fee for posting an auction item or a fee for uploading a graphic for an auction item.

NOTE:  To register as a bidder only, leave the field on the Seller Registration screen blank and click Next.

To register as a lister

  1. Complete the following fields on the Seller Registration screen.

    Register as a Seller
    Check the box to register yourself as an auction lister.
    Payment Terms
    Information about payment for the auctions posted on the site.
    Shipping Terms
    Information about shipping for the auctions posted on the site.

  2. Click Next.

    3. The Payment Information screen appears.

  3. Complete the fields on the Seller Registration screen and click Next.

    4. NOTE:  The billing address should be the address where the credit card bill is sent.

  4. Click Next.

    5. The Usage Terms screen appears.

  5. Read the terms of the license agreement and, if you agree, click I Agree.

    6. The Registration Confirmation screen appears.

    NOTE:  If you click I Don't Agree, you will not be registered. From the License Declined screen, click Back to go back to the Usage Terms screen, or click Continue to exit without registering.

  6. Click Finish.

    7. Your record is written to the database, and the Home screen is displayed with a welcome message.
