Setting Up Sales/Use on Windows


The setup is done using the Sales/Use Tax System Toolkit.

For more information on using the Sales/Use Tax System Toolkit, see your Taxware documentation.

To set up Sales/Use

  1. Choose Start > Programs > Taxware > Toolkit > toolkit.exe.
  2. The Sales/Use Tax System Toolkit launches.

  3. Click Security to set up an administrator user name and password, for example, sadmin/sadmin.
  4. Close the application and relaunch it.
  5. Click Environment to check the environment variables for Sales/Use Tax, STEP, and VERAZIP.
  6. Click Tools, and then Load Files to load the Product Taxability File, Tax Master File, Zip Master File, and County File.
  7. Click Nexpro to set up your company information.
  8. Within Nexpro, click Nexus to set up the tax for some states, such as California.
  9. Click Save to save the company information.
  10. Copy the files in C:\Taxware\SalesUse\toolkit\tlkout to C:\Taxware\SalesUse\outdata if the output directory for the Toolkit is different from the output directory for the Sales/Use Tax System.
