About Siebel Bookshelf Using the Document Browser

When you launch a book from any of the Bookshelf pages, a separate Web browser window, referred to as the document browser, opens. This window is divided into two panes: the navigation pane and the content pane.

Navigation Pane

For a single document, the navigation pane has three tabs: Contents, Index, and Search. These tabs let you find information. See Finding Information for details.
For All Docs, the navigation pane has two tabs: Contents and Search. See All Documentation for more information about All Docs.

Note: In your implementation, the tabs may appear as buttons. See Document Browser Samples for samples of the different implementations.

Content Pane

The content pane displays the topics you select in the navigation pane. The content pane has a toolbar that lets you perform the actions below.

Show in Contents Tab With a topic displayed in the content pane, click the Show in Contents Tab button to highlight the location of the topic in the hierarchical structure of the navigation pane.
Previous Topic Click the Previous topic button to display the previous topic in sequence.
(Clicking this button is not the same as clicking the Back button in your Web browser, which takes you back to the last topic you viewed in the content pane.)
Next Topic Click the Next topic button to display the next topic in sequence.
(Clicking this button is not the same as clicking the Forward button in your Web browser, which lets you view the topic you were viewing before clicking the Web browser’s Back button.)
Send email to Siebel Click the Send email to Siebel button to send an email to doc@siebel.com.
Print Topic Click the Print topic button to print the topic you are currently viewing in the content pane.
Show Navigation Pane When you access a revision history topic from the Bookshelf portal pages, the topic appears in a browser window without a navigation pane. In this case, you can click the Show Navigation Pane button to open the navigation pane.

PDF Links in Topics

At the top of each topic in the document browser, you will see a hyperlink to the PDF file of the book in which the topic exists.

To access PDF versions of the books

  • Click the PDF format link at the top of any topic.
The PDF file opens in a separate Web browser window in Acrobat Reader.

Note: You can also find the link to the PDF file of a document in any of the Bookshelf pages that lists the document.
